Temporary Exhibitions Gallery of IACM

The gallery, opened in 1985, is located in one of the lateral sections of the main lobby. It was formerly office premises but later served as a gallery for holding cultural and art exhibitions.

Tap Seac Gallery

An exciting gallery devoted to promoting both cultural and artistic exhibitions has been opened in Macau on 5th Dec. 2003. The Tap Seac Gallery, which is being financed and managed by the Cultural Institute, is available for presentations, educational projects and research projects, expositions and other functions.

Tap Seac Gallery features distinctive design and construction having two wells inside the building, plus a patio in the centre of the building which allows in daylight to add a unique dimension to exhibitions and displays. The gallery covers 4,000 square feet, and for multi-purpose usage, the interior signboards can easily be adjusted and moved around. In addition, there are some computer stations allowing access to the Internet as a further aid for cultural research and information.

Ox Warehouse

Ox Warehouse, the quarter of a group of Macau artists - "Old Ladies' House Art Space", holds regular exhibitions in various media, including paintings, sculptures, poster designs, installations, sketching, and so on. In addition to organizing interesting works of contemporary local art, the Old Ladies' House Art Space offers workshops for adults and children in drawing, music, and other forms of art. The Ox Warehouse is worth visiting for the architecture of the old buildings, which also house a small library and a charming, informal cafe.

Macau Museum of Art exhibitions

The Museum of Art is one of the famous Macau landmarks and an important art exhibition venue. December Exhibitions includes:‘A Century of the Imperial Palace and Gardens’(24 Nov 2011~11 Mar 2012) presenting 70 photographs by Chinese photographer Hou Yuanchao commissioned by Forbidden City Press and others in 2004 and 2006; ‘Beauty & Entirety: Ceramics of the Song Dynasty from the Palace Museum’ (8 Dec~11 Mar 2012), the exhibition showcases 187 pieces of exquisite court and popular ceramics of the Song Dynasty (AD 960 – 1279); ‘In the Interstices of Memory: Macau Contemporary Drawings’ (27 Oct 2011~12 Feb 2012), displays over 50 works by 11 Macau contemporary artists; ‘Abstract Paintings of Macau Museum of Art's Collection’ (2 Apr~31 Dec); ‘Western Views On China: Prints Of The 19th Century About The Pearl River Delta’ (22 Jun~31 Dec); ‘Historical Paintings of Macau in the 19th Century’ (22 Jun~31 Dec); ‘The Mosts of Macau: Photographs of Local Specialties’ (14 Apr~31 Dec).

The Macau Tea Culture Exhibition

The exhibition highlights the close relationship between the historical development of Macau and the external communication of tea by exhibiting valuable exported tea sets and tea paintings, facilities in local traditional tea houses and tea shops, and tea poetry couplets in different times, such as the exported tea sets and tea paintings of the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty. These will let visitors know about the hundreds-of-years of development of Macau's tea culture.

Macau Ideas

"Macau Ideas" aims to be a commercial platform to promote Macau products, Macau brands, Macau designs and sole distributorship of Portuguese-Speaking Countries’ Products. It is an integrated exhibition venue for Macau products. "Macau Ideas" is located in the same building of the Macau Wine Museum and the Grand Prix Museum.

'Taipa in the Past’ Photo Exhibition/ In Love with the Macanese - A Photograph Exhibition

‘Taipa in the Past’ exhibits photos taken before 1974, when the first bridge linking Macau and Taipa (Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho) was completed. The exhibition shows the local history and Taipa in the past, to let the public know the difficult life of their predecessors.

The history of the Macanese dates back to the 16th Century. At the time, the Portuguese had a strong overseas presence and frequently explored new sea routes to the East. Portuguese men married and had children with the locals, and eventually settled in Macau. Their offspring became the early Macanese of Macau.

Macanese living habits, education, customs and religious beliefs are all meticulously documented in this photographic exhibition, illustrating the past while raising the understanding of Macanese culture through captions. The exhibition fittingly takes place in the House of the Islands, a typical historic Portuguese residence in a leafy district of Taipa.

Handover Gifts Museum of Macau

The Macau Special Administrative Region was established in December 20th, 1999. Since then the region has achieved great success and growth. The Handover Gifts Museum of Macau exhibits gifts offered to Macau by the State Council of The People’s Republic of China and its provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. These beautiful gifts have their own local characteristics and unique artistic charm and carry best wishes messages. These gifts are also symbols of prosperity of the motherland.
